Privacy Policy

1. Protection of Personal Information

Any personal information provided to FinBuddy through this website is processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. General Principles

This privacy statement sets out how FinBuddy collects, uses, shares and otherwise processes your personal information when you use this site, register or apply online for any FinBuddy service, or contact us electronically. When you engage with FinBuddy, you trust us with personal information about yourself, your dependants, your beneficiaries and, where relevant, your employees.

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information. However, doing so may mean FinBuddy is unable to connect you with the products and services you have requested.

3. How We Collect Your Personal Information

FinBuddy collects your personal information when you complete an application, contact us electronically, or use this site and the tools, services or facilities it offers. Personal information may also be collected from other sources. Where personal information is shared with a third party (such as a BuddyCentral Group company or an external partner providing the service you requested), FinBuddy will not be responsible for any loss suffered as a result of that third party’s own processing.

4. Use and Sharing of Your Personal Information

You consent that FinBuddy may process your personal information for all purposes relating to this site and the products, tools or services offered on it, as necessary to assist you with your specific request.

4.1       FinBuddy may share your personal information with BuddyCentral Group companies and vetted external partners, where applicable, so they can deliver the service you requested (for example, credit repair, debt consolidation, insurance, or business funding).

4.2       FinBuddy will not sell, rent or otherwise provide your personal information to unauthorised third parties for their independent use, without your consent.

4.3       FinBuddy may transfer your personal information outside South Africa where a service provider (for example, a cloud host) is located outside the country.

4.4       By accepting this privacy policy, you authorise FinBuddy and its partners to obtain and share information about your creditworthiness with any credit bureau, credit provider industry association, or industry body, for purposes including risk analysis and tracing.

5. Protection of Your Personal Information

FinBuddy takes appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse or unauthorised alteration. Where you are issued a username, password or PIN to access a FinBuddy tool or partner portal, you must keep it confidential.

6. Accuracy of Your Personal Information

You must notify FinBuddy if your personal information changes or is no longer valid. You have the right to know what personal information FinBuddy holds about you, and to request access, correction or deletion of it, subject to any legal obligation FinBuddy has to retain it.

7. Third Parties

FinBuddy does not control the privacy practices of the external partners and BuddyCentral Group companies it refers you to. Those parties’ own privacy policies will apply to the services they provide. FinBuddy will only share your information with a third party where you have consented, or where FinBuddy has a legal or contractual duty to do so.

8. Amendments to This Policy

FinBuddy may amend this privacy policy from time to time. The most recent version, as published on this site, governs your relationship with FinBuddy.

9. Governing Law

This privacy policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you consent to the jurisdiction of the South African courts in respect of any dispute arising out of or in connection with it.
